Getting Started

Welcome

Your number is now text-enabled and ready to use.
 This page will walk you through the basic steps to get started.

2. Send Your First Message

Messaging Overview

Text My Main Number provides two interfaces for managing conversations:

1️. Messenger (Main Inbox)
Messenger is your primary texting workspace.

From Messenger, you can:

  • Start new conversations
  • Send SMS or MMS
  • Schedule messages
  • View and manage full conversation threads

2️. Chat (Live Quick Reply Panel)
Chat allows you to respond in real time using floating conversation windows.

It’s ideal for:

  • Fast back-and-forth replies
  • Managing multiple conversations simultaneously

Sending MessagesThere are three ways to start a message in TMMN:

Option 1 — Send SMS (Top-Right Menu)
Best for sending to one or multiple recipients (including bulk up to 50).

  • Click Send SMS (top-right of the screen)
  • Select To Number
  • Schedule messages
  • Select your sender number (if you have more than one)
  • Type your message or choose a saved template
  • Click Send

To send an MMS:

  • Upload a file
  • Or paste an MMS URL

Messages sent this way are delivered as blind copies (recipients do not see each other).You may also schedule a message by selecting a future date and time before clicking Send.

Option 2 — Start from Messenger
Best for managing ongoing conversations.

  • Go to Messenger
  • Select To Number
  • Click the + icon to start a new conversation
  • Enter a number or search for a saved contact
  • Type your message
  • Click Send

Messenger displays full conversation history and is ideal for continued communication.Scheduling is also available from this interface.

Option 3 — Start from Chat Panel
Best for quick replies without leaving your current page.

  • Open the Chat panel on the right side of the dashboard
  • Click New
  • Enter the contact or number
  • Type your message

Chat is designed for real-time conversation and does not support bulk sending.

3. Contacts & Groups

Contacts & Groups
Contacts allow you to save customer information for quick and organized messaging.
 Groups allow you to message multiple contacts at once.You do not need to upload contacts to begin texting — you can always send to a number directly.
 However, saving contacts makes ongoing communication much easier.

Add a Contact
To manually add a contact:

  • Go to Data → Contacts
  • Click Add Contact
  • Enter the contact’s name and mobile number
  • Click Save

You can also include optional fields such as:

  • Email
  • Company Name
  • Tags
  • Notes

Imprort Contacts (CSV or Excel)
If you have many contacts, you can import them in bulk.

  • Go to Data → Contacts
  • Click Import
  • Upload a CSV or Excel file
  • Match the columns (Name, Phone Number, etc.)
  • Confirm and complete the import

You can use the contact template provided in your activation email.

Create a Group
Groups allow you to send one message to multiple saved contacts.
To create a group:

  • Go to Data → Groups
  • Click Add Group
  • Name your group
  • Add contacts to the group
  • Click Save

Once created, you can select the group when sending an SMS.

Search & Edit Contacts
You Can:

  • Search contacts by name or number
  • Edit contact details
  • Add or remove contacts from groups
  • Delete contacts if needed

All contact management is found under Data in the left menu.

4. Use TMMN On Mobile

You can access Text My Main Number from any mobile browser by visiting:

For a more app-like experience on desktop, we recommend installing the PWA (see below).
We also offer a mobile app for iOS and Android:

Login using the same credentials as your web account.

5. Desktop App (PWA)

If you prefer working on desktop, you can install TMMN as an app using your browser.

This allows you to:

  • Use TMMN like a standalone app
  • Receive desktop notifications
  • Avoid opening a browser tab each time

How to install TMMN-PWA

  • Visit: https://www.textmymainnumber.com/
  • Log in to your account
  • In Chrome, Edge, or Brave:
  • Look for the install icon in the address bar
  • Or open the browser menu and choose “Install App”

Once installed, TMMN will open like a desktop application.

Important Settings

For notifications to work properly:

  • Enable browser notifications
  • Allow background apps to run
  • Make sure your browser is not fully closed

6. Send Texts from Your Email

Email2SMS allows you to send SMS messages directly from your email inbox — without logging into TMMN.This is useful if:

  • You prefer working from email
  • You want another team member to send texts without platform access
  • You need a quick backup method

Step 1 — Enable Email2SMS

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll to Email To SMS
  • Enter the email address(es) allowed to send texts
    (You may add multiple addresses)

Only approved email addresses can send messages through Email2SMS.

Step 2 — Send a Text from Email

To send a text message:

  • Create a new email
  • In the To field, enter your TMMN sending address:
  • YourBusinessNumber@user.textmymainnumber.com

Example:
16465951700@user.textmymainnumber.com

(16465951700 = your business texting number)
In the Subject line, enter the recipient’s phone number

  • In the Body, type your message
  • In the To field, enter your TMMN sending address:
  • Click Send

Example:
If you want to send:
"Hello"
To: 18007973167

From your business number: 16465951700

Your email would look like:
To: 16465951700@user.textmymainnumber.com

Subject: 18007973167

Body: Hello
Send.
The message will be delivered as an SMS.

Important Notes

  • The “To” email = your TMMN sending number
  • The Subject = the recipient’s phone number
  • The Body = the SMS content

If Email2SMS is not enabled in Settings, it will not work.

7. Notifications & Staying Updated

Text My Main Number highlights unread messages directly in Messenger and Chat.
To ensure you see replies quickly:

  • Keep your browser tab open while working
  • Enable browser notifications when prompted
  • Make sure notifications are allowed in your browser settings

If you do not receive alerts, check your browser’s notification permissions.

8. Compliance Basics

To ensure reliable delivery and carrier compliance, follow these best practices:

Messaging Best Practices

  • Only message customers who have opted in
  • Honor STOP or unsubscribe requests immediately
  • Avoid spam-style bulk blasts
  • Keep messages conversational and relevant
  • Do not purchase third-party contact lists

Following these guidelines helps maintain message deliverability and protects your number from carrier filtering.

9. Understanding Your Free Trial

Your account includes:To ensure reliable delivery and carrier compliance, follow these best practices:

  • 14-day free trial
  • Up to 100 SMS messages

This allows you to test the platform, send messages, and explore features before upgrading.

During Your Trial

Messages are sent under TMMN’s managed campaign for testing purposes.To continue sending messages under your own registered business name after your trial ends, 10DLC registration is required.

We strongly recommend completing your 10DLC registration before upgrading to avoid any interruption in messaging.
