Start texting from your business number
Use Text My Main Number to add texting to the business number you already use. Your calls stay with your current phone provider. First, authorize your number. Then complete your business registration — we recommend doing it right away. Texting usually takes about a day to set up; timing can vary.
Before you start, have these ready
- The account-holder name and physical service address exactly as shown on your phone bill.
- Your business phone number or numbers and current phone provider.
- Your legal business name, DBA or brand name, business address and contact details.
- Your EIN. If you are a sole proprietor without an EIN, contact us for help instead of guessing or entering a made-up number.
- Your website address and business type/industry.
- How your customers agree to receive texts. If your website collects that agreement, have the exact page link ready.
Plan to complete the business registration form in one sitting. The form can't be saved and finished later, so have your details ready before you start.
No suite or unit number? If your address has no second line, enter “N/A” in Street Address 2.
No EIN? The current form requires an EIN and does not show a sole-proprietor option. Contact us before completing it. Do not guess.
Step 1 — Authorize your number
Review and sign the Letter of Authorization below. It lets Text My Main Number enable messaging on your number while your voice service stays with your current provider. Use the name and service address from your phone bill.
Use the account-holder name and physical service address exactly as your phone provider has them. The signer must be the authorized party on that phone account or a person with legal authority to act for them.
Review and sign the authorizationThe authorization has three pages and 16 required fields. Review each page and complete the required fields before signing.
Step 2 — Complete your business registration (recommended now)
Next, complete the business registration form. You can do it in the same sitting.
Carriers require businesses that text to register (this is called 10DLC). You don't have to finish it to start your trial — you can also do it during or after the trial. But doing it now is best: we can submit it to the carriers right away. Accounts not registered by the end of the trial pay an extra monthly fee, on top of their plan, until registration is approved. See our 10DLC Compliance & Messaging Fees page for the amount. The two forms are separate; nothing links them automatically.
Enter the legal company name separately from the DBA/brand name. EIN means Employer Identification Number; use your business's actual EIN. You can find it on your IRS EIN confirmation letter (CP 575), on a past business tax return, or by asking the person who handles your business taxes. If you have no EIN, contact us instead of putting in another identifier.
Supply the registration contact and notification email accurately. Your carrier service address and business location may differ; use the address asked for. Street Address 2 is required by the current form: if you have no suite or unit, enter “N/A”.
“How customers agree” means the way a person knowingly signs up for your texts. For example: they tick a text-message consent box on your booking page. If that is how you collect consent, have that specific page link ready, not just your homepage. The form doesn't ask for this; our team will ask you when we prepare your registration.
Complete business registration (recommended)Step 3 — We set up texting on your number
After you sign the authorization, we begin setting up texting. This typically takes about a day, but it can take longer. You don't need to wait for your business registration — texting turns on as soon as your number is ready.
Signing gives us permission to begin setup; it does not make texting work immediately. A good time to finish the business form is while we set up the number.
Step 4 — Start your trial
Your trial starts when your number is ready: 14 days and 100 text credits. It does not wait for your business registration or for carrier approval.
A long text that splits into several parts uses one credit per part. Picture messages are allowed; each uses 3 credits. Trials support normal messages; verification and one-time codes are not available on trials.
Step 5 — We handle carrier registration
As soon as you complete the business registration form, we submit it to the carriers for you. Approval can take days to weeks. Your trial does not wait for it. If you haven't registered yet, we'll remind you during the trial.
Have your customer-consent details ready; our team may need that information to complete registration.
We prepare the carrier submission, including campaign details and samples. You do not need to write five campaign samples into the business form; have your actual consent method/page available for our team.
Step 6 — Choose a plan
At the end of your trial, choose the plan that fits your business. See plans and pricing.
Review the published plans and contact us to arrange the appropriate plan at the end of the trial.

Common mistakes to prevent
- Using a shortened, trading or personal name that differs from the phone account when the LOA asks for the bill/account name.
- Having someone sign who is not authorized for the phone account.
- Confusing your contact phone with the number being authorized for texting.
- Putting off the business registration form. It's quickest right after the LOA, and an unregistered account pays an extra monthly fee after the trial.
- Inventing an EIN or entering a personal identifier because the form requires an EIN.
- Leaving Street Address 2 blank or guessing; enter “N/A” if there is no suite or unit.
- Giving only a homepage when the actual web consent page is elsewhere.
- Assuming 100 credits means 100 arbitrarily long texts, or that setup/registration approval is instant.
Frequently asked questions
1. Will my phone calls keep working?
Yes. The LOA authorizes messaging; your voice service stays with your current provider.
2. Why do you need a Letter of Authorization?
It gives us permission to enable and manage messaging on the number you already use. Use the phone-account details and an authorized signer.
3. Why do I have to register my business?
Business texting on US local numbers uses carrier registration called 10DLC. We collect your business facts and handle the carrier submission for you. You can start your trial without it, but we recommend completing it right away; accounts still unregistered after the trial pay an extra monthly fee until they register.
4. What is an EIN, and what if I do not have one?
EIN means Employer Identification Number. Use your actual business EIN; you'll find it on your IRS EIN confirmation letter (CP 575) or a past business tax return. The current form requires it; if you do not have one, contact us for help rather than guess.
5. Why can't I text right after signing?
We still need to set up messaging on your number. Setup typically takes about a day, and can take longer. Your business registration isn't needed to start texting.
6. When does my trial start and end?
It starts when your number is ready. The trial is 14 days with 100 text credits; once its time or credits run out, arrange paid service to continue.
7. What counts as a text credit?
Each segment of a text uses one credit. A long message split into three segments uses three credits. A picture message uses 3 credits. Messages you receive don't use credits.
8. Can I send pictures?
Yes, picture messages are allowed on the trial. Each picture message uses 3 credits.
9. Can I send verification or one-time codes?
No. Trials are for normal SMS/MMS. Verification and one-time codes are available on paid plans, not trials.
10. What if I haven't registered, or approval is still pending, when my trial ends?
You choose a plan and keep texting. Until your own registration is approved, an extra monthly fee applies on top of your plan. See our 10DLC Compliance & Messaging Fees page for the amount.
11. Do I have to complete the business registration before I can text?
No. You can text during your trial without it. We recommend doing it right after the authorization so carrier approval can start early; we'll remind you during the trial if it's still open.
12. Do I pay anything during the trial?
The texting service itself is free during the trial. Carrier registration (10DLC) fees and any one-time sign-up fee are not waived for trials: they are charged when they apply, whether that is during the trial or after. See plans and pricing or contact us for the amounts.
13. What happens after the trial?
Choose a plan from our published pricing and our team sets it up with you. Your paid service starts when your plan is set up, not automatically when the trial ends or when carriers approve your registration.
14. Can I add more numbers?
The LOA lists up to four numbers and says an Excel list can cover additional numbers. Contact us about additional numbers and their setup; do not assume each number gets a separate trial.
15. How long does carrier approval take?
It can take days to weeks. Your trial does not wait for approval, and we cannot promise approval by its end.
16. Can I save the business form and finish later?
No. The form can't be saved and finished later. Plan to finish in one sitting and gather your details first. Do not rely on closing the page to save your answers.
17. What if I have no suite or unit number?
Enter “N/A” in Street Address 2.
18. Do I need to write sample campaign messages?
No. Our team prepares that submission using your business context and, where available, real trial messages. Tell us how your customers agree to receive texts and have the actual consent-page link ready.
19. Who can help me?
Use the contact block below for help with either form, no-EIN registration, address fields or setup.
